The purpose of Suffolk L.I. Mentor & Mentee (M&M) is to assist new adults, ages 18-34, in defining and getting on the path to achieving their life goals. How is this accomplished? With you! If you are a caring and supportive adult, we want you! Our mentors are part of a rich community that we take great care in fostering. We look for individuals coming from a variety of backgrounds with a willingness to give back to the Suffolk community.

Mentoring comes from compassion. Mentors assist new adults in the areas of career building resources. Mentoring is a rewarding experience as you will improve communication skills, learn new perspectives and ways of thinking, get to know different cultures, and gain a great sense of personal satisfaction.

Our mentors are a part of a rich community, fostered by a desire for individuals from a variety of backgrounds, in which they are able to share their ideas with other mentors via training and support meetings led by professional staff, monthly social events, and enriching leadership and personal development workshops, all of which are free. Please consider becoming a part of our community and sharing your knowledge, skills, and compassion with a new adult who is in need of your guidance and support.

Mentor Commitments:

We ask that our mentors commit a minimum of two meetings per month, for a period of six months with the possibility for renewal. One meeting must be face-to-face and the second meeting may be in person, on the telephone or through email. We provide free, optional mentor trainings to build on essential skills, and host free social events every month.
